Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 4, 2026

pdf2fill is a free online PDF filler. The short version of this policy: we don't keep your files permanently, we don't require an account, and we don't sell data. The longer version is below.

Your PDF files

When you upload a PDF to pdf2fill, the file is sent to our server, which does the work: it detects the form fields (blank lines, checkboxes, and text areas) and, when you're done, writes your answers onto the PDF and sends the finished file back to you. To fill the form, the values you type are sent to the server along with the file.

We keep no permanent copy of your document. Your PDF is held in the server's working memory while you work on the form, and during field detection it is briefly written to a temporary file on disk that is deleted immediately afterward. We don't keep it in a database, a file archive, a cloud storage bucket, or an account library, and we don't log, share, or sell it. The working copy is deleted automatically within one hour of your last activity, sooner if the server restarts. There is no permanent store from which we could retrieve your file later.

Saved signatures

If you use the signature tool, the "Remember this signature on this browser" box is checked by default. When it is checked, your signature is saved in this browser's local storage so you can reuse it on another form later. It is not saved to a pdf2fill account or database, and it is not available from another browser, another device, or private browsing.

You can forget the saved signature from the signature window, or remove it by clearing this browser's site data. When you place a signature on a PDF and download the finished file, the signature image is sent to our server only so we can write it onto that PDF and return the completed document. We do not permanently store the signature image.

No account required

You don't need to create an account to use pdf2fill. There is no sign-up form and no login, and we don't ask for your name, email address, or any other account or contact details. The PDF you upload may itself contain personal information, such as a name, address, social insurance number, or taxpayer ID; that's handled as described above, held only while you work on the form and automatically deleted within an hour, with no permanent copy kept.

Cookies and tracking

pdf2fill does not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or fingerprinting scripts. We don't run Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel.

We do use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless. It tells us how many people visited a page, which site they came from, roughly which country they were in, what browser and device type they used, and how fast the page loaded. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, does not fingerprint your browser, does not build a profile of you, and cannot follow you to other websites. We use it to see which pages are worth improving, and nothing else.

Server logs

Our hosting provider (Google Cloud Run) automatically generates server access logs. These logs may include your IP address, the time of the request, and which page you visited. This is standard for every website you visit. We do not cross-reference these logs with any other data, and they are not used for advertising or profiling. Logs are retained according to Google Cloud's default retention policy and are only reviewed if we need to debug a technical issue.

Third-party services

We load fonts from Google Fonts. Google may collect anonymized usage data through font requests; this is covered by Google's privacy policy. We also load the Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon described above, which is covered by Cloudflare's privacy policy. Those two are the only third-party scripts on the site. We embed no ad networks, no social media widgets, and no user-profiling tools.

Data security

All connections to pdf2fill use HTTPS, so data in transit between your browser and our server is encrypted. Since we keep no permanent copy of your files or the personal information they may contain, there is no database of user data that could be breached. The attack surface is small by design: we keep as little data as possible, for as short a time as possible, because that's the best way to protect it.

Children's privacy

pdf2fill doesn't ask anyone, including children under 13, to create an account or provide personal information directly. If a PDF uploaded to the tool happens to contain a child's personal information, it's handled the same way as any other file: held only while the form is being worked on, never permanently retained, and automatically deleted within an hour. If you'd like a file involving a child addressed sooner than that, contact us and we'll take care of it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and note the date at the top. We're a small tool with a simple purpose, so changes here should be rare.
